He graduated with his medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires and completed his residency and residency training in neurosurgery at the Ricardo Gutierrez Children's Hospital under the direction of Dr. Raúl Carrea and later Dr. Jorge A. Monges. He later became a resident at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.
He served as a full-time physician at the Ricardo Gutierrez Children's Hospital and later as senior physician and head of the neurosurgical clinic in the Neurosurgery Department at the Prof. Dr. JP Garrahan Pediatric Hospital.
He served as Senior Staff of the Pediatric Neurosurgery Service at FLENI since its inception in 1994 under the leadership of Dr. Jorge A. Monges and then as Chief of Pediatric Neurosurgery at FLENI from 2000 to 2014, when he assumed the position of Head of the Neurosurgery Service at the Prof. Dr. JP Garrahan Pediatric Hospital, a position he currently holds.
A university professor, he has extensive teaching experience, having participated in the Latin American Courses in Pediatric Neurosurgery of the European Society of Pediatric Neurosurgery, where he was the Director of the 2012 course in Argentina. He participates in the Education and Training Committee of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies and serves on the Editorial Board of Child's Nervous System, the official journal of the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
He is Director of the Academic Neurosurgery Unit at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA), based at the Prof. Dr. JP Garrahan Pediatric Hospital, where he also created and directs the Neuroendoscopy Simulation Courses developed at the Garrahan Simulation Center (CeSim).
He has been a Visiting Doctor at the Neurosurgery Department of the Montreal Neurological Institute in Canada (Epilepsy and Neuronavigation), at the Klinik und Poliklinik fur Neurochirurgie at the Ernst Moritz Arndt University in Greifswald, Germany (Neuroendoscopy and Neuronavigation), and at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona, USA (Cerebrovascular Surgery).
He is an active member of the Argentine Association of Neurosurgery, the Argentine College of Neurosurgeons, and the International Society for Pediatric Neurosurgery.
He is a Neurosurgery Specialist with degrees awarded by the Ministry of Public Health and Environment of the Argentine Republic, the College of Physicians of the Province of Buenos Aires, and the Argentine College of Neurosurgeons. He is a Certified Neurosurgeon by the National Academy of Medicine.
He is the author of more than 100 scientific papers presented at national and international conferences and published in national and international journals. He has also written chapters in books on the specialty. He has also participated in more than 100 courses, conferences, and roundtables on pediatric neurosurgery.
